Men + Leggings, Whoa or No?!

Men + Leggings, Whoa or No?!
Running errands the other day, I decided to take the scenic route and drive along the ocean. There is a bike path that follows the coast line and you can see the cyclists as they ride. One of the riders was all decked out in his yellow and black skin tight biking outfit. He looked fantastic in his gear and it got me thinking... Why do men have to be dressed for exercise to enjoy the feeling of leggings? We see men wearing them when cycling, swimming, (think full body wet suits), dancing, and running. But why do we have to be exercising to enjoy leggings? The fact is, we don't. Men can wear leggings any time they want. It's all about confidence.

Leggings feel amazing and it's about time you started enjoying the feeling of wearing them. I think one of the biggest stigmas in our society is worrying about what other people think. I'm in my forties and it's taken me 30 years to realize that 99% of people are so wrapped up in their own lives that they could care less what you're wearing. And the 1%? The heck with them. Why live your life worrying about what people you don't even know think of you?

Product: The Modern Legging

Do leggings make you feel good? Do you love the way the feel? Then wear them. Wear them to the mall, running errands, doing stuff around the house, working on the car, mowing the lawn. Feeling great in what you're wearing makes even the most mundane of tasks just that much more fun. If you're worried about them revealing too much of your boys then throw on a pair of shorts or a long t-shirt.

But PLEASE whatever you do, don't wear them with a headband and leg warmers. That look was terrible even in the 80's.

Hope you have an amazing week trying out leggings!

Hey guys, I just got wind of this blog posting from my regular Body Aware email and saw the “Men + Leggings, Whoa or No?” topic and HAD to stop by and write. Let me just say this, I have many, many pairs of leggings that I wear around the house including one pair of shiny pleather leggings with zip pouch that I wore once outdoors when I was feeling particularly adventurous. I had a couple of looks, and one gent said good morning to me. Heck, I paid a lot of money for what I have and I have to get over this mentality about what others will think if they see me wearing them and start wearing them whenever and wherever I want. It’s just so hard to do, because I’m not used to people judging me to my face (I don’t care what they say when I’m not there). But what should I be worried about? I know the answer is NOTHING but the threat of embarrassment or disappointment still lingers. I need a boost of confidence. I’ve lost 30 pounds in the last 5 months and look pretty good in my leggings, but am still a bit afraid of showing off. It’s a comfort thing, you know? :)

I love wearing leggings at the gym. I have one pair of bodyaware leggings, but want to try some more. I teach group fitness classes and prefer to wear thongs under my leggings so they don’t slide down and not show lines. I really don’t like it when guys wear them and then wear knee length baggy shorts over them. I tried this look at first and it just made it hot and non functional.

I love leggings, glad you have added them to your line. Up until now I have worn girls leggings but am looking forward to trying yours.

Hey Ron – great points here. What I’d like to know is, when are we going to see you wearing leggings when you’re out running errands? ;)

It’s time that men be men. Now, you have to think this saying over really hard. “Men be Men. “If another man is worried about what another man is wearing, then think about it, who’s really acting feminine? And let’s say another woman is worried about a man wearing leggings, skinny jeans, etc…. why is she so worried, if in fact she’s not your mother, sister, wife, or girlfriend.
I wear my skinny jeans, or track leggings whenever I want, and any man who has something to say about how I dress, is rather suspicious, and if the girl who is complaining, is not cooking my dinner, raising my kids, or even in my corner, she too can take her comments, and choke on them.
