Packin' Them Undies: Tips for Packing Underwear

Packin' Them Undies: Tips for Packing Underwear
The season of getaways is here! With warmer temperatures now in our midst, we’re all itching to go somewhere that’s prettier than where we’re currently existing. Of course, with traveling to new places comes packing up all of those clothes you’re going to wear. Underwear usually becomes an afterthought, just thrown in the suitcase haphazardly, but there are definitely ways to pack it more neatly and efficiently! Here are some handy tips that will make packing your underwear a cinch.
1. Roll them up
This is a crucial first step for me in packing any type of clothing. Once you start rolling clothes, you won't be able to stop. Heck, I still roll some of my clothes just to put in my dressers!
Rolling the underwear will allow them to take up as little room as possible and make for an efficient packing job. Make sure to roll them nice and tight though, because if you just roll them without putting much effort into it, your undies will be wrinkle central. This would mainly be a problem if you’re trying to swoon someone with your fresh, wrinkle-free undies. Lord knows most of us have been there! If they do get wrinkled though, bringing them in the bathroom while you take a hot, steamy shower should get any wrinkles out.
2. Find a pocket specifically for your undies

Maybe you’re too lazy or just don’t have the time to be detail-oriented with your underwear packing. I get that. It’s 2016! We want more time to update our social media or something along those lines. I get that. What I usually do, since most suitcases have more pockets than a pair of 90’s cargo shorts, I usually make use of one of those! Even if you’re just stuffing them in the pocket (though I still recommend rolling the underwear), the fabric will adjust nicely to whatever else is in the suitcase, making it easy to close despite a bulging pocket. You’ll then have a specific place just for your underwear while you travel! How handy is that? You're welcome.
3. Get unconventional: use your shoes!

A trick I found out about quite recently is to pack underwear (and even socks) inside your shoes! This is definitely a time for you to roll them up, though, as you will certainly have wrinkled underwear if you just stuff them in there. Depending on how big the underwear is and how big the shoes are, you can probably get 2-3 pairs in there. Of course, just make sure the shoes you pack them in are dry and relatively odor free, or else you might be getting a smelly surprise upon unpacking your underwear. However, this is a great way to save space, especially if you have plenty of outfits in mind for the trip ahead!
These are just some things I’ve noticed are helpful while packing for a long trip. Packing can get stressful, especially when the amount of space in a suitcase is limited, so any amount of tips for making it less painful is always nice. If we've learned anything from this, it's that rolling clothes is the best thing you could ever experience.

I’ll roll socks and put them in my shoes, but don’t like the idea of putting my underwear in them. Because I usually pack lots of underwear and swimwear, I use space bags.
