It’s #MaleModelMonday and what better way to spend it than drooling over our newest BodyAware model: Joel. Joel is a working model who travels back and forth between Phoenix and the Los Angeles area. After a long day of shooting last month, I caught up with Joel to get the skinny on his modeling aspirations and his guilty pleasures.

Two years.
What was your first modeling gig?
A portfolio shoot with an amateur photographer.

Commercial
What’s the craziest photo shoot concept you’ve done?
Being covered with ash and grease to achieve a gritty and sweaty grunge look.
Your dream modeling gig?
An editorial spread in a fitness magazine like Men’s Health.
Why do you model?
It’s easy money, plus I’m kind of lazy, haha.
Do you think there is a stigma against men wearing “skimpy” underwear?
I think people are quick to question someone’s sexuality just because they wear skimpy underwear which is unfortunate. Everyone should be able to wear whatever they want - gay, straight or otherwise.
Who in the modeling industry inspires you?
The late Greg Plitt. I am envious of his physique.
How do you prepare for a photo shoot?
I cut out sodium, eat light and do lots of cardio.
Do you manscape?
I trim the pubes.
How many times a week do you workout and what’s your favorite routine?
3-5 times a week. Leg day.
What is your favorite style of underwear?
Commando

Your most embarrassing moment?
Having an erection in high school class and not being able to hide it.
